The eighth and most recent All Stars season, which aired from May to July, featured the first-ever Fame Games competition, another chance for an eliminated queen to still win something. The main winner of the season would be Jimbo, who comes from Canada, while LaLa Ri won the Queen of the Fame Games title.
The Drag Race franchise has nine Primetime Emmy Awards nominations for their most recent seasons. This includes including Outstanding Reality Competition Program, and Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program (for RuPaul). It also racked up nominations for casting, directing, picture editing, production design and sound mixing. Untucked has two of them, for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program and for picture editing in its genre. Drag Race has won 27 of its now 70 nominations.
Casting directors Goloka Bolte and Ethan Peterson have said they’re always looking for “people that are going to step up and fight” for the LGBTQ+ community when casting queens for new seasons. Peterson in particular said “We are in a world where Drag Race [has become] a beacon of hope for a lot of people, and in these scary times for our community, it’s important to put people on the show that are going to fight and be examples to help evoke change.”
As this is just a renewal announcement, there's no premiere date or casting confirmation news to be had for them yet.
