Paramount+ Plans For International Introduction Of Premium And Ad-Supported Tiers

Paramount+ is set to grow its international userbase. It was reported Monday that the streamer will soon be rolling out both its premium and ad-supported tiers in several of its markets, following its 45-market general launch last year.

Australia, Brazil, Canada and Mexico will be the first batch of countries to have the premium plan made available on November 16. More will at a later date. Paramount’s library of hit shows, blockbuster movies and exclusive originals will be available in 4K UHD, HDR10, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Subscribers at the premium tier will be able to have four concurrent streams, up from the standard plan’s two. It will be available on the native app on Apple iOS, Apple tvOS, Amazon Fire, Google, Roku and Samsung at launch, with LG, VIDAA/Hisense, Xbox and Amazon Prime Video coming aboard in 2024.

The ad-supported tier launches in Australia, Canada, and other select markets starting next year, presumably early on enough that more selections of markets will be made throughout the year and beyond. Mexico and Brazil will be able to keep their mobile-only plan, which just launched in April. Paramount Global said in its most recent earnings call in August that the service has 61 million global subscribers, with Paramount+ growing revenue almost 50% over the year-earlier quarter. Marco Nobili, the executive Vice President and International General Manager at the streamer said the company was “focused on scaling (its) business and providing customer choice” after having expanded its global footprint last year.

“Following the launch of the Mobile plan in Mexico and Brazil, the introduction of the premium and ad-supported plans will give us the ability to better serve different consumer segments by providing multiple pricing options while also tapping into tremendous opportunities among our advertising and brand partners,” he continued.

As for pricing, the Premium tier will launch in Australia for $13.99 AUD monthly and $124.99 AUD annually; in Brazil for $R 34.90 monthly and $R 309.90 annually; in Canada for $13.99 CAD monthly and $124.99 CAD annually; and in Mexico for $179 MXN monthly and $1609 MXN annually. That’s Australian dollars, reais, Canadian dollars, and pesos respectively.
